State board to announce presidential sole finalist on Tuesday, June 16

As previously promised, the Idaho State Board of Education intends to name a sole finalist in the search for Boise State University’s next president at the beginning of its regularly scheduled board meeting next week. The meeting begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, in the Student Union Building on the Boise State campus, and details for the meeting will be posted on the State Board website.

This announcement will kick off a visit to Boise and campus for the sole finalist. A number of events are being planned for next week to offer students, faculty and staff, campus leaders, donors, community and industry partners, state leaders and others opportunities to hear from and interact with the sole finalist in person, or via Zoom and recorded webinars.

An open forum for the campus community will be held from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026.  The Board realizes that a summer visit to campus is less than ideal when faculty may be in the field researching, teaching at other universities or on vacation. To help provide a range of opportunities for people to hear from the sole finalist, this open forum will be livestreamed and recorded to be posted for later viewing. An invite with full details on how to attend and/or submit questions in advance will be sent to students, faculty and staff via email.

Boise State will continue to post updates on the visit on the presidential search website as they become available, and please monitor your email for details on the open forum. The Board is excited about this next chapter in Boise State’s leadership.
