Caitlin “Cat” Bullock is currently completing her penultimate semester at Boise State University pursuing a BA in English with a Creative Writing emphasis. A first-generation college student, Cat will graduate magna cum laude from the Honors College in December 2018.

She identifies as a listener and learner first, and a writer and reader second. Stories are Cat’s passion— particularly the stories of those who don’t have (or haven’t had) the opportunity to tell them. Whether fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction, Cat tries to write with emotional honesty, with truth, and with empathy for her characters and her readers.

Prior to this contest, Cat has won a cake walk, a year’s supply of free spinach from Earthbound Farms Organic, and, for two consecutive years, she’s placed first in Storyfort’s PreFort Undergraduate Reading in Creative Nonfiction. Cat received first place in Stonecrop’s Flash Fiction contest at the 2018 Storyfort.

Cat will be applying for both MFA and MLIS programs this summer. Cat hopes to one day be published in Tin House and to work in a library. She currently holds three jobs to provide the best life possible for her cat, Marceline, and to keep her fridge stocked with La Croix, kombucha, and kosher dill pickles.
