He has been an instructor at Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana.

Currently, Eric is a Biology instructor at Northwest College in Wyoming.  His research interests include ecology of a wide variety of raptors, conservation, spatial distribution of rare species, especially prairie birds and montane amphibians, methods for identifying species of conservation concern, conservation planning in the West, and general small scale and long term field ecology.

Eric is also committed to the ethical development of local economies that join people intimately to their ecosystems.  Hence, Eric, wife Melonie, and daughters market Galloway beef at the Red Lodge Farmers Market in Montana and raise heirloom livestock on their small farm.
