Research Security

Boise State University is responsible for the security of the research conducted at the University. Research security focuses on the integrity and protection of the research ecosystem. This encompasses safeguarding sensitive information and intellectual property and mitigating the unwarranted influence of foreign governments within research while supporting collaborative and open research where possible.

Research security requirements have expanded in recent years in response to federal policy and sponsor requirements. Federal agencies increasingly expect universities and researchers to demonstrate transparency, responsible international engagement, and strong research security practices.

To meet federal research security requirements, Boise State requires certain individuals involved in federally funded research to complete research security training through the CITI Program.

Training covers key topics including:

  • Disclosure requirements
  • Cybersecurity
  • Risk mitigation and management
  • International collaboration
