Summary

The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program supports the research and teaching careers of talented early career faculty in the chemical sciences. The Foundation seeks Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholars who, as independent faculty members, demonstrate leadership in original scholarly research of outstanding quality, as well as innovation in and dedication to education. Recommendations for awards are based upon compelling evidence that the nominee’s independent scholarly research has led to important advances in the chemical sciences, and will continue to do so.

Award

Approximately $100,000 for up to five years.

Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline

Institutions may submit only one Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award nomination annually.

Notice of Interest Process

Only proposals approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program. For such approval, the Principal Investigator (PI) must first submit a Notice of Interest form by 4 PM on August 18, 2025.

Key Submission Dates

August 18, 2025 by 4 pm – Notice of Interest due

August 25, 2025 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of approval

January 9, 2026 – Proposal Intake Form due to OSP Pre-Award

January 23, 2026 – All final proposal documents due date to OSP

January 30, 2026– Full proposal due to The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation

Important Note on Sponsor Requirements:

The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program is open to faculty who meet all of the following criteria:

  • From academic institutions in the States, Districts, and Territories of the United States of America that grant a bachelor’s or higher degree in the chemical sciences, including chemistry, biochemistry, materials chemistry, and chemical engineering.
  • Hold a full-time tenure-track academic appointment focused on the chemical sciences.
  • From Ph.D. granting departments in which scholarly research is a principal activity and undergraduate education is an important component.
  • Are within the first six years of their independent academic careers at the time of submission of the nomination. Experience has shown that awardees tend to be close to the end of their eligibility window, but all eligible candidates are welcome to apply.
