Summary
The Humanities Research Centers on Artificial Intelligence program supports the establishment of new interdisciplinary collaborative humanities research centers focused on gaining a clearer understanding of AI and its implications for the United States. Proposals must create a center with a specific research focus related to the social and cultural aspects of AI and how such knowledge can improve and advance our nation’s leadership position in AI. Questions about the impact of AI on American society and culture are fundamentally rooted in the humanities, which includes but is not limited to ethics, law, history, philosophy, language and linguistics, comparative religion, and the humanistic social sciences. A center is a sustained collaboration among multiple scholars focused on exploring the humanities implications of AI through two or more related scholarly activities.
