The Office of Sponsored Programs is completing a project to transition from effort reporting to payroll verification for sponsored projects compensation compliance. This initiative involves two phases: first, catching up on outstanding certifications, and second, establishing an annual schedule for sending reports to ensure ongoing compliance.
The catch-up phase became necessary due to changes in payroll data following the HCM implementation. We’ve used this opportunity to update, simplify, and modernize our approach. Our initial round with the new method will focus on catching up to the last time effort reports were issued, which was for summer 2021. Once this is complete, we will distribute these reports annually per award.
The catch-up reports will be sent out between September 24 and October 12. These reports will cover all active or ended awards that had payroll costs between summer 2021 and summer 2025 and will include links to detailed instructions for completion. Each catch-up report will require Principal Investigator certification within 30 days and will be routed via AdobeSign for convenient review and signature.
We will also be scheduling drop-in Zoom Q&A sessions to provide assistance and answer any questions you may have regarding the reports. The details of these zoom sessions will be shared with you along with your reports.
We are excited about this transition to a more streamlined process and our ability to maintain current compliance with this requirement.
