Summary
The mission of The G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Foundation (“Foundation”) is to advance knowledge in the life sciences by sponsoring scientific research that will benefit mankind. Basic scientific research, with potential translational application, is central to this goal, and fundamental to our operating principles. Examples of current research areas supported include immunology, microbiome, structural biology, cellular physiology, cancer biology, genetics, genomics, microbiology and infectious diseases, stem cell biology, and neuroscience. The Foundation does not support research conducted in human subjects and will not fund requests for clinical trials or drug discovery.

Award
$700,000 for three (3) years.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline
Three (3) Letters of Intent (LOI) per institution per grant cycle.
Notice of Interest Process
If interested in this submission, please complete the NOI form by 4 PM on November 26, 2025. Only proposals approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program.

Key Submission Dates
- November 26, 2025 by 4 pm – Notice of Interest due
- December 8, 2025 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of approval
- Upon notification – Proposal Intake Form due to OSP Pre-Award
- January 30, 2026 – Institution Nominations and Portal Registration due to Mathers Foundation
- February 2, 2026 – Preliminary budget due to OSP
- February 6, 2026, – LOI documents due to OSP
- February 13, 2026 – LOI due to Mathers Foundation
- April 17, 2026 – All final proposal documents due to OSP
- April 24, 2026 – Full proposal due to Mathers Foundation
