Summary
Specialty crop grant funding is provided by the United States Department of Agriculture and is allocated to the state to be awarded through a competitive grant process. Projects must enhance the competitiveness of Idaho grown specialty crops in either domestic or foreign markets and must provide a benefit to more than just a single organization, institution, or individual. Specialty crops include fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops, including floriculture.
Award
There are no minimum or maximum limits on the amount of funds that can be requested for one project, but the average grant amount in the past has been between $50,000-$150,000.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline
Four (4) proposals per institution are permitted.
Notice of Interest Process
If interested in this submission, please complete the Notice of Interest (NOI) form by 4 PM on February 10, 2026. Only proposals approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program.
Key Submission Dates
- February 10, 2026 by 4 pm – Notice of Interest due
- February 16, 2025 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of approval
- Upon Notification – Proposal Intake Form due to OSP Pre-Award
- February 27, 2026, 2025 – All final proposal documents due to OSP
- March 6, 2026 – Full proposal due to ISDA
