Summary

The Conservation, Food and Health Foundation seeks to protect the environment, improve food production, and promote public health in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East.  The Foundation prefers to support applied research, pilot projects, new initiatives, training, and technical assistance that generate local or regional solutions. These solutions should address problems affecting the quality of the environment and human life; advance local leadership and promote professional development in the conservation, agricultural, and health sciences; develop the capacity of local organizations and coalitions; and address challenges in the field. An important goal for the Foundation is to provide seed money to help promising projects, organizations, and individuals develop the track record they need to attract major foundation funding in the future.

Proposal Guidelines

Award

There is no minimum or maximum grant size. It is anticipated that most grants will fall in the $25,000-$50,000 per year range. Grants are made for a one- or two-year period.

Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline

One (1) per institution is permitted per calendar year.

If interested in this submission, please complete the Notice of Interest (NOI) form by 4 PM on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Only proposals approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program.

  • Wednesday March 18, 2026 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of approval
  • Upon Notification –  Proposal Intake Form due to OSP Pre-Award for either cycle
  • Choose a proposal cycle:
    • Proposal Cycle 2
      • Friday June 5, 2026 – Final documents due date to OSP 
      • Monday June 15, 2026 – Full proposal due to The Conservation, Food & Health Foundation
  • Proposal Cycle 1
    • Monday December 14, 2026 – Final documents due date to OSP 
    • Tuesday December 22, 2026 – Full proposal due to The Conservation, Food & Health Foundation

Important Note on Sponsor Requirements
The Foundation supports local, state, and regional organizations in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and the Middle East in the countries where the projects are based.  It also supports organizations located in upper-income countries working with local partners in these areas.  It does not support projects in post-Soviet states or Balkan states.
