This opportunity supports cutting-edge scientific research, mainly in the form of major scientific instrumentation that benefits multiple users. The Trust’s research priorities center on scientific innovation that enhances and sustains human flourishing and research that uses the power of science for the common good. The Trust is also interested in funding shared instrumentation that supports multidisciplinary collaborative projects. Example areas that the Trust funds include Advance Manufacturing, Biology, Biomedical Research, Chemistry, Clean and Sustainable Energy, Disease and Medical Diagnostics, Genetics, Geology, Marine, Earth and Environmental Science, Materials Science and Engineering, Nanofabrication, Physics and Astronomy, and Robotics.
Award
Minimum award of $100,000; 1:1 match required for a minimum total budget of $200,000. There is no maximum budget amount, the Trust encourages applicants to ask for what is most appropriate for the specific project.
Limited Submission Requirements and Timeline.
If interested in this submission, please complete the White Paper form by 4 PM on July 30, 2026. Only proposals approved by the Division of Research and Economic Development may be submitted to this program.

Key Submission Dates
- July 30, 2026 by 4 pm – White Paper due
- August 14, 2026 – Anticipated date applicants will be notified of decision
- August 18, 2026 – Proposal Intake Form due to OSP Pre-Award
- October 8 – November 13, 2026 by 9am – Final LOI documents due to OSP
- October 15 – November 20, 2026 – Period 3 (Fall) LOI due to Murdock Charitable Trust
- February 1 – March 20, 2027 – Full application due for LOIs approved by Murdock Charitable Trus
