Meet The Resilience Institute
How One Idaho Town Sparked a Movement
When Kamiah, Idaho faced flooding, strained relationships, and aging infrastructure, they didn’t need just technical fixes, they needed a partner. By listening first and working together, Kamiah and The Resilience Institute at Boise State co-designed a Resilience Strategy that unlocked over $1.5 million in grants to the city. Since then, we’ve supported over a dozen projects and communities across the state and Pacific Northwest.
“The Resilience Institute helped the city, community members, stakeholders, and tribal partners reshape their collective thinking by listening and having honest conversations to achieve our common goals… The work far transcends any expectation the city could have hoped for and continues to this day.”
— Mike Tornatore, Deputy Clerk, Kamiah
