The Boise State Resilience Institute officially kicked off the West Central Mountains Economic Summit in McCall on November 13, 2025. Dr. Brittany Brand, Director of the Boise State Resilience Institute, facilitated a session titled “Resilience in Action: Strengthening the Foundations of a Thriving Region.” During her presentation, Dr. Brand shared insights from the year-long resilience assessment that she and her team have been conducting across the West Central Mountains region.

This assessment focuses on four key areas of community resilience:

  • Sustainable Economy
  • Effective Disaster Management
  • Built to Last
  • Thriving Today and in the Future

Dr. Brand presented preliminary findings from the assessment, highlighting strengths, challenges, and opportunities for advancing long-term regional resilience.

Following the kickoff session, the Resilience Institute hosted two breakout discussions:

  1. Breakout One: “Resilience in Action: Balancing Growth and Stewardship to Advance a Prosperous Future”
  2. Breakout Two: “Resilience in Action: Strengthening Pathways from Education to Employment”

These sessions engaged participants in providing feedback on the ongoing final phase of the resilience assessment. Attendees collaborated in small groups to share perspectives that will directly inform the Institute’s ongoing roundtables and the development of actionable strategies for the region.

The insights gathered during the summit will play an essential role in refining the resilience assessment and shaping future community-driven action planning across the West Central Mountains.
