Roundtable on Balancing Growth and Stewardship to Advance a Prosperous Future: Strategic Action Planning

 Workshop in Valley County

On December 18, 2025, the Resilience Institute at Boise State convened the third workshop in the West Central Mountains Resilience Assessment series in Cascade, Valley County. This session advanced the ongoing regional dialogue on Balancing Growth and Stewardship to Advance a Prosperous Future, building on feedback shared during the West Central Mountains Economic Summit held on November 13, 2025.

The workshop brought together working group teams to review and reflect on feedback gathered during the Summit’s breakout sessions. Brittany Brand, the Director of the Resilience Institute at Boise State, started the session with participant introductions, followed by facilitation from Monica Revoczi. Participants engaged in small-group discussions to synthesize Summit input, integrate new perspectives, and share key takeaways with the larger group.

The afternoon focused on strategic action planning, with goal teams refining strategies and developing action plans aligned with shared regional priorities. Each team presented proposed actions, fostering discussion, alignment, and collective learning. To support accountability and long-term implementation, a Performance Measurement Template was introduced that teams will use to track progress over time.

Next steps include compiling and sharing all workshop inputs with participants; convening goal team meetings to further refine strategies and action plans; and providing ongoing coordination with the Boise State team as needed. The process will now transition into implementation, supported by clear communication channels, defined roles, and quarterly progress reporting to track outcomes, share updates, and maintain regional momentum.

The workshop concluded on a hopeful and reflective note. Participants emphasized the importance of coming together across diverse perspectives, recognizing that shared values and concern for future generations often outweigh differences. As one participant shared,

“We all love our community. Our passions may differ, but we want better for our children—and there is no disagreement there.”
