Held at McCall Outdoor Science School (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uidaho.edu\/mccall-field-campus\/moss\">MOSS<\/a>), a University of Idaho College of Natural Resources site, the gathering was an opportunity for students to connect and share their research experiences working on various I-CREWS projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each student is a graduate research assistant with the Idaho Community-engaged Resilience for Energy-Water Systems (<a href=\"https:\/\/idahocrews.org\/\">I-CREWS<\/a>). I-CREWS is a National Science Foundation Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research that addresses challenges to Idaho\u2019s energy-water systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Led by Boise State University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/research-resilience\/about-us\/leadership-and-executive-team\/mitchell-meads\/\">Mitchell Meads<\/a>, a postdoc researcher for I-CREWS who is affiliated with Boise State\u2019s Resilience Institute, students braved the snow and participated in team-building activities, presented their unique research projects and enjoyed mapping exercises that helped students identify potential connections between research areas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boisestate.edu\/research\/blog\/2025\/11\/06\/model-mathematician-meet-tapiwa-mwila\/\">Tapiwa Mwila<\/a>, a third-year graduate student in Boise State\u2019s Computing Ph.D. program and a member of the I-CREWS modeling team, says she thoroughly enjoyed the retreat. She noted feeling an immediate sense of community and highlighted the meaningful exchange of ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mwila said, \u201cIt was a truly lovely experience\u2026 just seeing what everyone is working on and identifying potential connections between research areas.
