Article Workflow

Article Submission

Please send the Management Assistant article ideas with the following information:

  • Article idea and what it is about.
  • Helpful links or attachment that give more information when writing the article. Example: Outside links, picture of the person referred to in the article, etc.
  • Contact information if the topic is a student or other entity that does not work for the university.

Next Steps

  • When the idea is received, the Management Assistant will determine if it should be an article or a social media post.
  • If the topic becomes an article, research and writing will take place.
  • If the topic becomes a social media post, the management assistant will work with the social media team to create a post and add it to the social media calendar.

Article Process

  • Create draft
  • Send the article draft to who the article is about to make sure it makes sense (if needed). Make any recommended edits.
  • Submit an updated article draft to the COHS Communication Manager to double check it complies with brand standards and makes sense. Make any recommended edits.
  • Resend the edited version to the person in the article, if needed. Make any additional edits if necessary.
  • Send one last time to COHS communications with final edits for one last check. Make any edits if needed.
  • As long as the edits are not a large amount, the article can be posted to Boise State News at this time.

Depending on the type of article, and how much information is provided, will be how quickly an article can be created and go through the approval process. If research or correspondence with another individual for an interview is needed, it will take longer.

Timeline can vary widely based on time and availability of people in the article, COHS communications, and the marketing assistant.
