Scope and Audience

The School of Respiratory Care Sciences (SRCS) believes in providing education in support of our mission. “To Advance Respiratory Care by Supporting Lifelong Learning,” we aim to provide assistance to raise the academic degrees of faculty. The Tuition Reimbursement Program was implemented to provide financial support to eligible employees to facilitate completion of a doctorate or other approved academic development programs.

Eligibility

This policy applies to all SRCS benefit-eligible employees. Staff have the additional requirement of working six months for the School before becoming eligible.

  • The School will reimburse tuition only.
  • Tuition reimbursement shall be paid at the lesser of non-self-support Boise State resident graduate cost per credit hour or cost per credit hour at the institution attended.
  • A lifetime maximum of $25,000 tuition reimbursed will be in effect for each participant.
  • This benefit may be taxable. Employees who participate should contact their tax representation for additional guidance.
  • Only graduate coursework from regionally accredited degree-granting institutions are eligible for reimbursement.
  • “Workload Buy-out” option: The redistribution of the workload will be based on the sponsored activities of the applicant and will be at the discretion of the Divisional Dean.
  • Applicants must be in good standing relative to their performance evaluations
  • Participants must agree to remain at Boise State University for two years following reimbursement of $3,000 or more. If the employee voluntarily/involuntarily terminates employment before completing two years of FTE service after receiving the last tuition reimbursement from the Department of Respiratory Care, you must repay the total amount reimbursed over $3,000.

  • For employees pursuing their doctorate or a program wherein some term grades may not be quantifiable, a statement from their program administration stating the student is making satisfactory progress in their dissertation course will satisfy the grade requirement.

Administrative Modification

The Divisional Dean reserves the right to discontinue this program at any time, or temporarily freeze the participation of new applications based on budgetary considerations.
