All encounters with wildlife should be reported to Risk Management & Insurance and other appropriate resources at Boise State University. For purposes of reporting, an encounter is defined as instances of human contact with or observation of wildlife on campus, whether inside or outside of buildings, where the engagement between human and wildlife poses a threat, is unsafe or may endanger either or property.
Examples of encounters: wasp nests, bats within buildings, close proximity to potentially aggressive animals (badgers, bobcats, cougars, coyotes, skunks, snakes, etc.), or close proximity to animals displaying aggressive behavior (including domesticated dogs or cats, geese, etc.), and infestations (concentration of insects or other animals).
For encounters posing an immediate threat to safety, please contact Public Safety at (208) 426-6911.
If an employee is injured, please complete the Supervisor-Employee Accident Report (SEAR).
If an encounter is experienced by a third party (student, guest, contractor) with or without injury, please complete the Incident/Accident Report.
Health concerns due to contact with wildlife should be directed to University Healthy at (208) 426-1459, or Stephanie Hudon at (208) 426-1523, stephaniehudon@boisestate.edu.
