Keith And Catherine Stein Luminary supports collaboration on campus

Student touching an interactive digital screen

The Luminary is an all-digital museum space, producing a range of immersive, interactive and sensory experiences. Combining touch-activated screens and immersive projection, it delivers cutting-edge content focused on visual and performing arts and cultural exhibitions for the Boise State community.

The Luminary exhibits faculty and student research, welcomes K-12 school groups who experiment with linking art and technology, is an interactive classroom for Boise State students and provides free access to the community. Since its opening in 2022, the Luminary has hosted thousands of people, both internal and external to the university.

In the past academic year, we’ve held a variety of events, exhibitions and
programs. From showcasing Boise State research at the Center for Research and Creativity’s SPARC event to a graduate thesis on the history of World War II, students and faculty have created and shared their work in the Stein Luminary.

The Luminary team has collaborated with faculty members from Art, Design and Visual Studies; Film; World Languages; Geosciences; Chemistry and Biochemistry; Mathematics, and the Boise State University Foundation. It has also served as a background for photography and marketing projects for the Office of Communications and Marketing, the College of Engineering and the Division of Extended Studies. The versatility of the Stein Luminary has established itself as a dynamic hub for innovation and creative exploration at Boise State.
