Every year around the end of March, Boise comes alive during Treefort. In 2025, Boise State students from the School of the Arts joined in the festivities both as performers and students preparing for creative careers.

The Music on the Flipside workshop, taught by faculty Sue Latta and Nicole Molumby, was a high-impact service-learning experience that immerses students in the world of event production and community engagement. Students got mentorship and professional development at Treefort Music Festival, setting them up for career success after graduation.

Boise State also hosted several signature events and engagement opportunities on campus as part of Treefort, including:

  • The Boise State Ranger Station offered merch, ticket giveaways, a photo booth and a Pulse Radio DJ set.
  • Gene Harris All-Stars showcase concert at the Hemingway Center with a special performance by touring act Progger.
  • Games, Interactive Media, and Mobile Technology (GIMM) students were heavily involved in Hackfort 2025 by showcasing their capstone projects at Albertson Library, which showcased a fusion of gaming, music and technology.
  • As a part of Filmfort, Boise State film students partnered with the University of Idaho film program to present a showcase of their best student-directed films from the 2024-25 academic year.
  • In the Stein Luminary, audiences engaged with interactive experiences, including a life-sized CLUE game, and discovered short student films, innovative time-based art showcases and insightful presentations exploring Boise State’s rich theatre program history.
  • BFA Visual Arts students presented gallery showings in the Center for Visual Arts and in the Blue Galleries.
  • Boise State students gave pop-up performances in the Center for Visual Arts and in the Hemingway Center alongside community partners such as Boise Rock School.
  • Students played in bands that performed at downtown venues, such as Aka Bells, Fjord People, Ethel Rose and Fleeting Confidence.
  • In collaboration with StoryFort and the Department of English Literature, StoryNight@BoiseState presented a multi-disciplinary, illuminated storytelling event themed around “Master and counter narratives: Same facts – different stories.”

The School of the Arts is proud to contribute performances and creative works to Treefort and we look forward to next year.
