Boise audiences are invited to a rare, free performance by the celebrated Jazz Ambassadors of The United States Army Field Band when they take the stage at the Morrison Center on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. The concert is presented by the Morrison Center in partnership with the Department of Music and is free to the public. Tickets are available in person at the Morrison Center Ticket Office (limit of 4 per household). Lobby doors open at 6:15 p.m. with seating beginning at 6:45 p.m.
This is a particularly special opportunity for the Boise community as the Jazz Ambassadors are the United States Army’s premier touring jazz orchestra (a 19-piece big band) with a history of high-profile national and international performances.
Several Boise State Department of Music students — Kitchen (Christian) Sanderson (saxophone), Steven White (trumpet) and Josey Beltran (trombone) — will join the Jazz Ambassadors onstage for a featured performance of “Shirley,” composed and arranged by Sammy Nestico. The concert will also open with a formal Presentation of Colors by the Bronco Battalion color guard.
Concerts by the Jazz Ambassadors are designed to entertain audiences of all types. Many of the ensemble’s members arrange and compose music, highlighting the group’s creative talent and gifted soloists. The program for the night will span classic big-band swing, contemporary jazz, vocal and instrumental features, Latin and bebop selections, alongside original works.
A highly competitive audition process draws Jazz Ambassador candidates from leading conservatories, universities, and the professional ranks. Many members of the Jazz Ambassadors also have extensive civilian performance experience, with alumni going on to careers in university teaching, studio recording and professional-level performance.
For many in Boise, this will be a rare chance to experience the group live on a major stage. Click the link below for additional ticket and event info.
