Video games are one of several types of social media that people consume in today’s society. Although there are many different genres of video games, most of them seem to follow a similar pattern when it comes to gender roles and sexual identity. Women are meant to wear skimpy clothing and to be damsels in distress. Men get to be the heroes with the big weapons and handsome looks with cool armor. Villains are meant to be pure evil and mostly hideous to the eyes. As for sexual identity, it is mostly common for all the characters to be straight and nothing else. Most games follow these norms, but I chose to challenge them. The designs, personalities, and weapon choices all went into account while making each character to fit the roles I wanted them to have.
