"Screenology - A Media Archaeology of the Screen" - Dr. Erkki Huhtamo Reception and Lecture

Join the Stein Luminary and Boise State School of the Arts for an evening lecture and refreshments with scholar, digital archeologist, and media historian, Dr. Erkki Huhtamo.

Refreshments will be served from 6:00-6:45 pm in the CVA Atrium with a lecture in Skaggs Hall beginning at 7pm.  Skaggs Hall is located next to the CVA in the Micron Business Building. (2360 W. University Drive, MBEB 1301)

Erkki Huhtamo is a professor at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) in the Departments of Design Media Arts, and Film, Television, and Digital Media. He received his Ph.D. in cultural history from the University of Turku, Finland. Huhtamo is an internationally renowned media historian and theorist, and also a specialist in the history and aesthetics of media arts. He is one of the founders of an emerging approach to media studies known as media archaeology, dealing with the “media apparatus” in historical case studies and the archaeology of interactive media. Huhtamo’s new book projects are a monograph on the history of mechanical theaters and a volume tentatively titled “Media Archaeology as Topos Study.”
