Jill AnnieMargaret, Professor of Printmaking in the Department of Art, Design and Visual Studies, completed the Tamarind Institute Summer Workshop Intensive in early August. The four-week workshop included 120 contact hours of training in stone lithography.\u00a0\u00a0Jill was one of seven other selected artists who traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico from the UK, Uruguay, Australia and other parts of the United States. This professional development opportunity was funded by a generous donation in memory of Anita Diane Wells Quick, Boise State University Alumna, 1981.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe support offered by this uniquely generous gift intersects with my teaching, research and service and will positively impact students enrolled in printmaking for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lithography is a chemically based printing process that was developed in the late 18th<\/sup>\u00a0century. Images are created on Bavarian limestone, which has the perfect porous and fine-grained properties conducive for drawing and etching. It has transformed over the centuries from the primary mode of commercial printing into a collaborative, fine art medium, facilitating conversation and human connection. June Wayne, who sought to revive the medium in the United States, founded Tamarind Institute in 1960 in Los Angeles. Tamarind has collaborated with artists such as Ruth Asawa, Ed Ruscha, Joseph Albers and more recently, Rose B. Simpson.\u00a0\u00a0For more information visit\u00a0Tamarind Institute<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Jill's<\/figure>

Jill AnnieMargaret is a visual artist and community organizer, whose research and creative activity explores aspects related to traumatic experience and resilience through the material processes of printmaking and mixed media. AnnieMargaret founded the Rocky Mountain Printmaking Alliance in 2009 to strengthen the regional printmaking community.\u00a0 She\u00a0 currently serves as Vice President of the Alliance which will be hosting its sixth biennial symposium<\/a>\u00a0this October in Spokane. She is co-founder of the Boise State Resilience Cooperative in collaboration with Clinical Assistant Professor,\u00a0 Alyssa Reynolds, LCSW, MSW School of Social Work. The Cooperative’s mission is to promote well being and resilience within individuals, groups and the community through the arts.
