Duties: faculty support and recognition, program strategy and oversight, campus collaborations

Kara came to Boise State in 2000 from a nationally ranked Service-Learning program at the University of Utah. She brings over twenty years of experience consulting with faculty, students, and community agencies. Kara earned her bachelor’s degree from Macalester College in Minnesota and her master’s degree in Communication from the University of Utah.

Duties: Forming, building, and initiating community partnerships; brainstorming and designing service-learning projects; collaborating with other Boise State community-facing programs

McGee joined the Service-Learning team in 2023. He earned a Master’s Degree in Community Organizing and has over 15 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations in direct service, program development, and leadership roles, specializing in addressing homelessness through collective impact

Duties: service-learning student support and employment, classroom & instructor support during the service-learning semester

Erin started with the Boise State Service-Learning program in November 2018. Erin has earned a M.S. in Health Education, focusing on adolescence and substance abuse and prior to coming to Boise State she directed University of the Pacific’s community center focusing on leadership, education, and service where her work has focused on community building, service, social advocacy, student development and leadership. Erin has been a foster parent, distance hiker, and wants nothing more than for folks to become educated citizens of our global community.

Duties: Managing and ensuring the sustainability of student employment programs.

Alli is pursuing her master’s degree in Public Administration at Boise State University. She completed an undergraduate degree in International Business and Trade through the African Leadership University. Alli brings valuable experience gained from working for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as part of the Youth Connekt Africa’s management support, and the One UN Joint Youth Programme. Alliance’s mission is to live a life where each step and action that she takes results in positive changes for the people around her and beyond. She is dedicated to fostering student engagement, and community development.

Duties: community partner outreach and capacity building development, logistical support of the service-learning program and student employees.

Annie is pursuing her Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration at Boise State University, exploring research interests in women studies, non-profit organizations, migration, and public opinion. She has earned an undergraduate degree of International Relations and a master’s degree in Political Science before coming to Boise. Annie brings international working and volunteer experience from governmental and non-profit organizations, thus enjoys contributing to community development, traveling, learning about different cultures, and giving a little towards making this world a better place for all living beings. 

Duties: Supports Service-Learning programming, outreach, and student support

Em joined the Service-Learning team as an SLA in August 2022. She is an undergraduate seeking a Bachelors in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Science. Em enjoys helping peers learn more about themselves by connecting with their community through Service-Learning.

Charlee joined the Service-Learning team as an SLA in December 2023. She is an undergraduate seeking a Bachelors in Secondary Education with emphases in Math and English. Charlee enjoys helping students and faculty reflect on community engagement experiences in Service-Learning.

Duties: Supporting the Service-Learning program through storytelling and video production.

Hank joined the Service-Learning team in August 2023. He is a dual-major undergraduate seeking bachelor’s degrees in Biology as well as Film & Television. Hank enjoys creating videos that increase outreach and that work to inform other students about the Service-Learning programs.

Duties: Supports the Service-Learning program through graphic design and storytelling.

Timothy is an undergraduate seeking a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design. He joined the Service-Learning team in August 2023 and supports the Service-Learning program through creating designs and other digital media for recruitment and promotion. As a transfer student from Saipan, Timothy believes in the power of connecting with the local community and seeks to use graphic design and the art of visual storytelling to promote student engagement and uplift the communities that Service-Learning serves.
