Dubey Publishes Research on Menstruation

Priyanka Dubey

Just in time for Menstrual Health Day (May 28), Assistant Professor Priyanka Dubey contributed to an important and often overlooked conversation — publishing two timely pieces that challenge us to think beyond the binary when it comes to menstrual health.

Her entry, “Gender Diverse and Trans Menstruation,” in The SAGE Encyclopedia of Menstruation and Society, invites readers to see that people of varied bodies and gender identities menstruate, and therefore, it is time to degender menstruation, she says.

Complementing this, her systematic review “Menstrual Health and Hygiene Experiences of Transgender and Nonbinary Populations: A Global Perspective”  maps evidence from across the world, exposing barriers transgender and gender diverse people face in accessing health care and safe, inclusive spaces, making a compelling case for structural changes in healthcare and beyond.
