Fall 2025 Drop-in Hours
If you are a current or returning Boise State student looking to meet one-on-one with an SPS advisor, visit us during drop-in hours.
Please note: We are currently short-staffed and wait-times are inflated. Our new advisor starts Nov 10th and we hope to have her trained soon! Because of this, please be aware that you could be waiting 20-30 minutes or longer during peak times.
In-Person Hours
To meet in-person, bring a laptop or tablet with you to Riverfront Hall Room 201 during any of the below times:

Zoom Hours
To meet with an advisor via zoom you will need to log in to Zoom using your boisestate.edu or u.boisestate.edu email address.

Students wanting to speak with a Pre-Law advisor should go to the Pre-Law Advising website and make an appointment.
Welcome!
Prospective First-Year or Transfer Students: Contact the Admissions Office to schedule a virtual or in-person tour and learn everything you need to know about becoming a Bronco. If you wish to talk with a SPS advisor as a part of the process, let the Admissions Office know and they will make arrangements.
Newly Admitted First-Year or Transfer Students: Contact New Student Programs to sign up for an orientation. During orientation you will meet with the SPS advising team to register for your first semester, learn about degree requirements, and have all of your past transcripts evaluated by the Registrar’s Office.
If you have earned a Bachelor’s degree, either at Boise State or elsewhere, and want to complete a second Bachelor’s degree you must complete at least 30 additional upper division credits as a part of your second degree. In order to earn a second degree you must meet all major and University requirements that have not been previously met.
It is important to note that in many cases students will be required to take more than 30 credits, depending on degree type and prior coursework.
After your form is reviewed you will be contacted via BroncoMail within 5-10 business days to set up a meeting to start designing your customized plan.
Following your meeting the first draft of your customized plan will be sent to the department lead of your selected major to be finalized.
When everything is complete, your plan will be sent to the Registrar’s Office for processing.
What is Academic Advising?
Undergraduate academic advising in the School of Public Service is a partnership between you and our advisors. It is an on-going process where we work together to assist you in the navigation of SPS degree requirements and campus resources as you progress towards graduation.
Responsibilities

Know and follow university policies, regulations, deadlines, and procedures
Take personal ownership of your academics and keep our advisors informed of decisions or changes that may impact your graduation progress
Take initiative and utilize academic planning tools and campus resources
Participate in self-exploration and reflection regarding career and educational goals while accounting for your own values, abilities, and skills
Advisor Responsibilities:
Understand and clarify university policies, regulations, deadlines, and procedures
Help you make informed decisions about course selections that satisfy your SPS degree requirements
Help you navigate academic planning tools and campus resources
Advocate for your success and work collaboratively with you as you progress towards graduation
