Spring is here, Broncos! Campus and the whole city of Boise are in full bloom with trees and flowers, markets popping up for the season and events to get you through the rest of the semester. Spring is the perfect time to check things off your Boise State Bucket List as we venture outdoors and break out of the winter blues. Are you ready to bike along the Boise River, enjoy a relaxing picnic, or try your hand at fishing? Immerse yourself in Boise’s springtime charm and create unforgettable memories with our unofficial guide to spring in Boise:
Scenic Outdoors Surrounding Campus
One of the best parts about being a student at Boise State is how easy it is to get outside. As the weather warms up, the Boise area becomes the perfect place to explore between classes or on the weekend.
Right next to campus, the Boise River Greenbelt offers miles of pathways for biking, walking, or running along the river.
If you’re looking for a great view, head up to Camel’s Back Park for a short hike and panoramic views of the city and foothills. The trails are beginner-friendly and perfect for a spontaneous sunset (or sunrise) adventure with friends.
Looking for something for relaxing? Pack a blanket and enjoy a picnic on the lawn at Julia Davis Park, just a short walk from campus. With open green spaces, trees in bloom, and the river nearby, it’s a favorite spring hangout spot for students.
Also located in Julia Davis Park is Zoo Boise! From red pandas to sloths and giraffes, Zoo Boise offers a fun way to relax and reconnect with nature without leaving the city. Make sure to stop by and enjoy an easy afternoon surrounded by nature right in the heart of Boise.

Markets and Cute Neighborhoods
Spring also means the return of Boise’s outdoor markets and neighborhood events!
The Boise Farmers Market opens April 4 and is a must-visit for fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and locally made treats. Grab breakfast, support local vendors, and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
Another Boise favorite is the Capital City Public Market which opens April 11 in downtown Boise. This market is known for its handmade goods, art, street food, and live music, making it the perfect Saturday outing.
Hyde Park also offers endless charming streets and neighborhoods filled with more coffee shops, local boutiques, and restaurants. Spring is the ideal time to stroll around and soak in the beautiful weather.

Spring Fling
One of the biggest events of the season is Boise State Spring Fling on Saturday, April 18 and you WON’T want to miss it. From the same team that brought you Splatter Party, this year’s end-of-the-year bash is bigger, bolder, and fully immersive. Spring Fling is a campus tradition that celebrates the end of the school year with a live DJ, activities, and games. It’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time with friends, meet new people, and enjoy the energy on campus before summer begins!
Commencement
As spring comes to a close, the semester ends with one of the most exciting milestones of all: Boise State Commencement! Graduation is a time to celebrate the efforts and accomplishments of our Broncos as they take their next steps beyond campus. Whether you’re graduating or cheering on friends, commencement is an inspiring moment for the Boise State community!
