Student Death

The death of a student is a difficult event for family, friends, and the campus community. We are here to support those impacted by student death and serve as a liaison for those affected by the loss.

Our support includes:

  • Organizing grief support for impacted students, faculty and/or staff.
  • Notifying University officials, course instructors, academic departments and any other member of the campus community who may be affected.
  • Serving as the liaison for family members inquiring about the students’ University matters and navigating administrative systems.
  • Supporting family and friends with their unique needs, as we understand that each family will have special situations that need support.
  • Helping coordinate remembrance services, celebrations of life or other ways in which the campus community wants to honor a student who has died.

If you are made aware of the death of an undergraduate or graduate student, please notify the Office of the Dean of Students’ Student Outreach and Assistance team at studentoutreach@boisestate.edu or by calling Lauren Oe, Associate Dean of Students, at (208) 426-1527 (option 6).
