Space Heater Trade-In Program
The Fall 2025 Space Heater Trade-In Program was successful. The Office of Sustainability and partners in Campus Operations offered faculty and staff the opportunity to trade in their office space heaters for a free electric blanket. We have collected over 50 space heaters in exchange for a free electric blanket! We appreciate the support and participation of everyone involved in this initiative! Stay warm!
How Does The Trade-In Program Promote Sustainability on Campus?
Safer Campus
- Safety hazards minimized
- Significant drop in potential fire hazards
- Reduced tripping of electric breakers around campus
Efficient Campus
- $21/month space heater vs. $1/month heated blankets when operating eight hours a day (Saving over $1000 dollars per month in energy costs)
- Space heaters can cause false readings with thermostats, resulting in inefficiencies in the building heating systems. Fewer space heaters make our building systems work better.
