Food Insecurity

  • Food insecurity is defined as the state of being without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. A survey conducted in 2016 found that over 40% of Boise State students face food insecurity.
  • Campus initiatives to combat food insecurity:
    • Campus Food Pantry – All students are welcome to come grab necessities from the food pantry. Just make sure to bring your Student ID card.
      • Location: Office of the Dean of Students (Campus School 120)
      • Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:15am – 5:45pm
    • Meal Assistance Program
      • Students who demonstrate food insecurity can apply to receive meal swipe donations. Visit the Office of the Dean of Students Webpage to learn more and access an application. Campus Garden

Boise State University is in the process of planning a campus food garden to be built and planted in the Spring and Summer of 2019. The garden is being installed with the hopes of advancing efforts to address food insecurity and to increase campus knowledge of and interest in Sustainability. will be cared for and maintained by volunteers and Boise State service learning students.
