How Boise State supports sustainable transportation
Find the most sustainable transportation method you can use to get to and from campus and track your trips with ShareTheRideIdaho to win gift cards to restaurants and tickets to events.
The Bronco Shuttle
The Bronco Shuttle is free for students, faculty, staff — and the public. It connects campus to downtown Boise and St. Luke’s Hospital, with routes running on and off campus all day.
- About 25,000 rides every month during the academic year.
- Won a Leadership in Motion Award for creating the downtown connector route.
- Every shuttle has a bike rack, so you can combine rides.
Biking and walking on campus
Boise State has been a Bicycle Friendly University since 2011, and currently holds the League of American Bicyclists’ Platinum designation — one of only 9 campuses nationwide. Getting around on two wheels (or two feet) is one of the easiest ways to shrink your footprint on campus.
- 1,000+ bike parking spots across campus
- Secure, weatherproof Bike Barns for long-term storage
- Free repairs, rentals, and commuting classes at the Cycle Learning Center — itself a Platinum-level Bicycle Friendly Business
- Boise Green Bike and Enterprise CarShare available right on campus
E-bikes and e-scooters
Thanks to a grant from the City of Boise, e-bike and e-scooter charging stations can be found all over campus, with an online map showing exactly where they are. There are also covered bike racks near the Library and the Capital Village Bike Hotel, for anyone who’d rather pedal.
Bus and carpool options
For those outside biking distance, other options beat driving alone.
- Any Valley Regional Transit bus is free with a Bronco Card
- Commuteride matches riders into a carpool or vanpool, with a free first month
- The Guaranteed Ride Home Program reimburses an emergency ride home for anyone who bikes, walks, buses, or carpools to campus
