B2B Details

The first year of the program is generally the last year a student will attend the College of Western Idaho. Students will complete Cell Biology (MMBS 260), Genetics (MMBS 280), and Ethics in Science (SCIE 102) during this time to better prepare for the upcoming research experience.

In the spring, students will be assigned a student mentor to help with the transition to Boise State. All mentors are in the third year of the B2B program and will assist in selecting a faculty mentor to prepare for the Bridges Summer Research Experience and provide general support.

All B2B Fellows participate in the 10-week Bridges Summer Research Experience with a distinguished faculty mentor, completing 40 hours per week. Students will also present at the Idaho INBRE Summer Research Conference at the end of their experience. 

B2B Fellows successfully transfer to Boise State and continue to participate in a 15- week research experience each semester, working 10 hour per week. Students also enroll in a seminar course (IFITS 498) for both fall and spring semesters.

Students will participate in a second Summer Research Experience for 10 weeks, working 40 hours each week.

B2B Fellows serve as peer mentors for the new B2B cohort. They can also receive continued academic and financial support through undergraduate research and specialized B2B course work. During this year, fellows will have the opportunity to connect with their peers and share your experience in the B2B program and at Boise State.
