Axiom Implementation Work Streams

The implementation of the Axiom Budgeting System has two work streams.

Starting in FY25, the Axiom Budgeting System has run parallel with the current budget ledger process. There are two concurrently work streams involved in the implementation effort:

Work Stream 1: Axiom Implementation

  • November/December, 2024 – The Office of Budget and Planning (OBP) did an Axiom Demo for the Campus Implementation Partners (CIPs).
  • OBP partnered with CIPs to determine how many licenses were needed for their area. The Axiom Budgeting System is only available to those with an Axiom license. Everyone else will be able to get budget information via the data warehouse.
  • The OBP did a phased roll out of the Axiom Budgeting System
    • Pilot Groups Go-live date 4/1/25: College of Health Sciences, College of Business & Economics, Finance & Operations
    • Go-live date 8/1/25: University Foundation, Graduate College, Albertsons Library, Office of the Provost
    • Go-live date 9/1/25: College of Innovation & Design, College of Education, Extended Studies, Honors College, Research & Economic Development
    • Go-live date 10/1/25: Student Affairs, ExtraMile Arena, Athletics, College of Engineering, Morrison Center, School of Public Service
    • Go-live date 11/1/25: College of Arts & Sciences, Communications & Marketing, Human Resources, Office of the President

Work Stream 2: Axiom to Data Warehouse Integration

The Axiom to Data Warehouse project will empower departments with the information they need to manage their budgets in real time, reducing manual data entry and allowing budget analysts to focus on higher-value tasks. This approach aligns with the University’s evolving data strategy, offering long-term benefits as Boise State transitions to a new budget model and reduces reliance on shadow systems.

  • Axiom data will be integrated with the data warehouse to allow campus users to continue pulling reports on Budget vs Actual information.
  • The Project Team has been working to extract data from Axiom and rebuild familiar reports, like the AAR (Account Analysis Report), so they are available in Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC).
  • Once deployed, we anticipate this data will be more user-friendly and accessible than it is now, and it will deliver new, useful information, such as PCN level data.
  • Once confirmed that Axiom is working as expected and the data warehouse reports have been updated, the budget ledger in OFC will no longer be maintained.
