If you missed our November Grackle for Google Slides learning sessions explaining how to make Google Sheets accessible, the webinar is now available online.
Presented by Carolyn Quintero, the webinar recording offers a step-by-step walkthrough of using the Grackle Slides add-on to help identify and fix accessibility issues within Google Slides.
The webinar is part of the Office of Information Technology’s proactive efforts to meet new federal digital accessibility standards under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These standards require all digital content (including shared files stored in Google Drive) to meet accessibility requirements by April 2026.
The webinar recording covers how to:
- Eliminate any outdated or unnecessary Google Slides.
- Convert necessary content into more accessible file formats (if feasible).
- Use the Grackle for Google Slides add-on to fix accessibility barriers in essential slides.
Key remediation actions
- Tables:Â Tag tables with header rows and remove empty or merged cells
- Visuals: Add alternative text to all charts and images or mark as artifact, and use the contrast checker to ensure sufficient color contrast.
- Content: Fix readability issues like fine print (text below 8-point font) and add alt text to overly styled text if needed.
- Structure: Review slide order and adjust as needed.
