Web Accessibility Challenge

We’ve made great progress resolving accessibility errors on our public websites. Let’s keep the momentum going strong!

You can help us reach our goal of an accessible website by participating in the Boise State Web Accessibility Challenge. Each challenge covers a specific aspect of web accessibility and we provide guidance and resources for completing one challenge each month.

March, April, May

Review Images

Images are an important aspect of your website. They provide visual interest and help users engage with your content. However, not all users of your website can see your images. For this challenge you’ll explore decorative images, images with text, and plan for future image accessibility.

Review Documents

Documents are used to provide users with additional information but more often than not, this information is made difficult or impossible to access because of accessibility errors. During this challenge you will inventory the documents currently published on your site, then replace, or remediate as necessary, and finally develop a plan for future documents.

Review Media

Using media on your website is a great way to tell stories and engage with your audience. However, if your media is inaccessible, you might be excluding a key segment of your target audience. During this challenge you will evaluate the accessibility of media currently published on your site, then replace, or remediate as necessary, and finally develop a plan for future media production.

Review Headings and Links

One of the best ways you can create accessible web pages is with clear headings and descriptive links. Headings and links provide users with structure and navigation when reviewing content on the web. For this challenge you will review the headings and link text on your site, revise text as needed, and then develop a plan for ensuring future web content is accessible.
