Google Slides stored in your Boise State Google Workplace account must meet digital accessibility standards. Use Grackle Slides to identify barriers and improve your document’s accessibility.
Get started
To begin, you will need to launch the Grackle Slides add-on in your Google Slides.
- Open your Google Slides document.
- In the Google Slides menu, select Extensions > Grackle Slides > Launch.
- If prompted, select Allow or Continue in the permissions window.
- Grackle Sheets will open in the right sidebar and begin running an accessibility check.

Grackle Sheets provides you with information on each section that it checks.
- Green checkmark = passed
- Green checkmark with exclamation = passed with warning
- Red X = failed
Accessibility check sections
The Grackle accessibility check includes several sections. Review sections with warnings or failed checks for probable accessibility issues or barriers. Follow the instructions in the Grackle sidebar to resolve issues.
Presentation
This section checks that:
- Slide deck has a descriptive title.
- Language is set (English is usually set as the default).
Slides
This section reviews each slide. It checks that:
- Each slide has a unique title.
- Empty slides are not used.
Tables
If your slide deck includes tables, this section makes sure they are correctly tagged and described. It checks that:
- Tables are tagged correctly with headers.
- Cells are not merged.
- Cells are not empty.
Elements
This section reviews images and other layout elements. It checks that:
- Images and graphics have alt text.
- Text boxes are not empty.
- Lists are correctly marked as numbered or unnumbered lists.
Contents
This section checks for formatting issues. It checks that:
- Good contrast is used.
- Font size is large enough to be readable.
- Blank lines are flagged for review.
- Style changes are flagged for review.
