Tagging and Organization in Localist at the College Level

Colleges manage many departments and groups, and sometimes these sub-departments need to publish events within their group. Problems can arise when the college is unaware of department-published events, including duplicate events, mismatching information, SEO conflicts, and confused users. To mitigate this, some colleges have opted into a unified tagging structure.

When a college has opted into the unified tagging structure, departments within that college will not have their own group in Localist. Instead, all events will be submitted to the college’s Localist group using the Localist event submission form. After the event is received by the college, a trained Localist team at the college level reviews the event, tags it using an internal tagging strategy, coordinates with the submitter, and publishes the event.

For example, the screenshot below is taken from a career fair event and shows that it is being managed by the College of Arts and Sciences, but it is hosted by the School of the Arts, School of the Environment, and the School for the Digital Future.
