Spanish language Internship, Spring 2020

The Boise State Department of Geosciences has received a NASA ISGC K-12 STEM Engagement

grant to implement a career pathways program in Marsing, Idaho. Marsing hosts a student

population that is approximately 50% Spanish speaking. Additionally, an existing geoscience

outreach program has Marsing partnered with Spanish speaking schools in Guanacaste, Costa

Rica. Each school has an international weather station toward a potentially collaborative

climate education program.

This internship advertisement seeks a Spanish language student for 1 to 2 credits (45-90 hrs) to

assist with document translations (to send materials home to parents in Spanish), international

email communications in Spanish, and family/community events wherein a Spanish speaking

program representative may be beneficial.

Our outreach program benefitted greatly from previous Spanish language interns on this

project and we look forward to continuing that success. The intern will be working with

Pamella Aishlin Cedillo, PI on the NASA grant, Jan – May 2020. Work hours are flexible. Trips to

Marsing occur typically on Wednesdays or Fridays. One or two evening events may be

scheduled in Marsing. The intern will be needed to travel with the PI on a few of these trips.

Round trip travel time is just under two hours. Please contact pamaishlin@boisestate.edu to

present interest in this position.
