Boise State Administration Statement about ASBSU
The Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU) is a student-led organization that facilitates educational, intellectual, social and cultural engagement and advocates on behalf of the interests of students at the university.
Boise State University administration is not involved with the selection of ASBSU student representatives or the operation of the student government. Representatives are elected by the student body to a one-year term annually in spring.
ASBSU has its own policies and processes, created and carried out by students. As is common practice with university student governments, university administration does not weigh in on the governance of ASBSU. All fee-paying students of the university comprise the Associated Students.
Just as we encourage students to exercise their constitutional right to vote in national and local elections, we encourage them to lift their voices in electing their student leaders as well. These elections will take place in March or April 2021.
The role of the Executive Council is to manage the internal and external affairs of ASBSU. This includes anything from spending money to collaborating with university administrators to ensure that the student voice is a part of decisions at Boise State.
Executive Council meetings for the 2020-2021 school year will be held remotely via Zoom on Monday from 10:30AM-12:00PM. If you would like to listen in on our decision-making processes, please feel free join the call!
The Executive Council consists of nine different positions. The President, Vice President, Vice President of Inclusive Excellence, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Vice President of Student Organizational Affairs are all elected positions. The Administrative Director, Government Relations Officer, Ethics Officer, and Communications Officer are all appointed positions.
For any complaints against members of ASBSU, please contact the Ethics Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information, and a complaint form. If the complaint is in regard to the Ethics Officer’s behavior, please contact the Vice President at email@example.com
