Executive Council Officers

The Executive branch consists of the President, Vice President, Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence, Associate Vice President of Student Organization Affairs, Ethics Officer, Administrative Director, Government Relations Officer, and Communications Officer.

Meet the Team

  • Kenneth Huston (He/Him/His)

    ASBSU President

    Kenny is a fourth year student majoring in Environmental Studies with Minors in Economics, Sustainability, and Climate Studies with a Certificate in Human Rights. He has also been admitted to the Accelerated Masters program in Public Administration. When he isn’t working, you can find him running, camping, or hiking around Boise. Kenny serves in a wide variety of spaces on campus and can be contacted, like any other member of ASBSU, to help navigate any problem you may face as a student.

    Office Hours: Tuesdays/Thursdays 10-2pm

  • Sarah Smith (She/Her/Hers)

    ASBSU Vice President

    Sarah is a junior at Boise State majoring in Business Administration with minors in Supply Chain Management and Entrepreneurship. Sarah has been a member of ASBSU for the past three years. She started as a First-Year Representative on the General Assembly and then spent the last year as the Administrative Director. Sarah has also served on the Campus Food Pantry Committee for the past three years and has been advocating for student support.

    Office Hours: Wednesdays 2:30 - 4:15

    Sarah is a junior at Boise State majoring in Business Administration with minors in Supply Chain Management and Entrepreneurship. Sarah has been a member of ASBSU for the past three years.   • Amaia Guerricabeitia (She/Her/Hers)

    Administrative Director

    Amaia is a 3rd year Psychology major in her first position at ASBSU. Amaia currently serves as the ASBSU Administrative Director, and is responsible for the official keeping of records, tracking grant funding accounts, and developing the budget. After her time at BSU, Amaia plans to get her Masters’s Degree in Counseling.

    Office Hours: Mondays 1:30-3:30

    Amaia is a 3rd year Psychology major in her first position at ASBSU. Amaia currently serves as the ASBSU Administrative Director, and is responsible for the official keeping of records, tracking grant funding accounts, and developing the budget.   • Graf Kirk (He/Him/His)

    Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs

    Graf Kirk is a biology major in his senior year. As the Vice President of Academic Affairs, he’s hoping to connect more students to their professors and deans as the chair of the Senate branch. This year, he’s especially excited to lead the ASBSU sustainability committee in setting the tone for university efforts towards sustainability in our dining halls. Overall, Graf is the best resource to go for support for your student needs. In his free time, Graf enjoys photography, Formula One racing, rock climbing, and walking his dogs.

    Office Hours: Monday/Tuesday 10:30-11:30

  • Grace Burgert (She/Her/Hers)

    Associate Vice President of Inclusive Excellence

    As the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence, Grace serves as a liaison between ASBSU and the Inclusive Excellence Student Council (IESC). This year, Grace and the IESC are focused on rebuilding collective community and continuing the legacy projects left by past IESC members. Aside from her work at the university, she’s interested in technology and its intersection with culture and social justice, the many facets of the Asian American experience, and domestic and sexual violence prevention. In her free time, Grace enjoys reading, playing with animals, and watching good movies with a bowl of ramen or a plate of nachos.

    Office Hours: Fridays 1-2PM

    Kayla Magana (she/her) Is the Vice President of Student Organizations. She works directly with the Student Funding Board which is a branch of ASBSU that manages grants and works closely with student organizations to provide funding support for their events. If you would like to learn more about the process and what kind of events/supplies that they fund, feel free to email her anytime and you can set up a meeting in-person or virtually via zoom! Also, aside from the Student Funding Board, she is here to support our students in any way possible, so if you have any questions/concerns unrelated to funding, she welcomes you to connect with her!

  • Taite Griffin (He/Him/His)

    Ethics Officer

    Taite is a 3rd-year Anthropology major in his first position at ASBSU. Taite currently serves as the ASBSU Ethics Officer, and is responsible for upholding and maintaining the ASBSU Governing Documents, and ensuring ASBSU accountability. He is always available over email or during his office hours, located at the Student Involvement and Leadership Center in the Student Union. After his time at BSU, Taite plans to head to law school and focus on intellectual property law. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

    Government Relations Officer

    Samantha is a 3rd-year political science major and this is her second position on ASBSU. Sam previously served on ASBSU as a first-year representative and sat on the government relations committee. As this year’s government relations officer, she hopes to help advance university and state government relations. Besides school, Sam enjoys competing in jiu-jitsu, reading, and snowboarding.

    Communications Officer

    Eric is a 3rd year Supply Chain Management Student in his 3rd position with ASBSU. In his Freshman year, Eric served as a First Year Rep, transferring to serve as a Senator for COBE in his second year. This year, Eric has taken the helm as our communications officer and is excited to re-vamp our marketing. In his free time, you can find Eric snowboarding, playing football, or swing-dancing.
