Creating a Culture of Philanthropy Through Student and Parent Engagement

Outside of the classrooms, labs, and study halls at Boise State, students are engaged in athletics, clubs, internships, and other programs that prepare them with real-world experiences that develop team building, communication and critical thinking skills that enhance their full college experiences. These students often graduate with hands-on experience and life skills, broadening their ability to adapt quickly to the environment of their chosen professions. We see these amazing students daily.

Take for example, those who are engaged in the Boise State Student Impact Board. Comprised of students earning a diverse array of degrees, the student-led board focuses on supporting University Advancement initiatives, while developing leadership, celebrating the university’s history and traditions, and fostering school pride. The students, guided by members of our Advancement staff, selected the name of their board, highlighting the “impact” they as a group are dedicated to achieving. The Boise State Student Impact Board emphasizes the involvement, motivation, philanthropy, advancement, community and tradition as their objectives – hence the “impact” they make as student leaders.

Already active within University Advancement, student board members help with alumni and donor events such as the annual Scholarship Dinner, Bronco Giving Day, Easter Egg Hunt on the Blue, as well as Commencement ceremonies. As you join us for events, look for these student advancement leaders promoting Bronco pride while continuing to foster our culture of philanthropy.

Several student members of the impact board understand the positive impact philanthropy makes in the lives of others. Their academic careers have been significantly impacted through your generosity, as many are recipients of your giving, most recently when alumni, friends and parents generously supported our annual online campaign during Bronco Giving Day.

Donors gifted more than $375,000 on Bronco Giving Day, with funds immediately impacting the student food pantry and career closet interview clothing program receiving about $15,000 and $8,000 respectively.

Thank you for your continued generosity by giving both your time and treasure to impact the lives of Boise State students. We are so grateful for all you do to add to the “impact” made on Boise State students and our culture of philanthropy.
