MBAA Curriculum and Course Descriptions

The MBA in Analytics degree has two emphasis areas depending on your background and interests: an Economic Analytics emphasis and a Business Analytics emphasis.

Economics Analytics Emphasis information and admission requirements (click to expand)
  • Designed for students interested in quantitative economic modeling and understanding how markets and policy shape business outcomes. This emphasis builds depth in econometrics, forecasting, and causal analysis to inform strategy and evaluate organizational and industry trends.
  • MATH160 – Survey of Calculus (FM) (4) or MATH170 – Calculus I (FM) (4)
  • Demonstrate completion of BUSSTAT207 Introduction to Business Analytics, BUSSTAT208 Business Analytics, MBA507, or equivalent.
Business Analytics Emphasis information and admission requirements (click to expand)
  • Designed for students with programming experience who want to use data science tools to address practical business challenges. This emphasis focuses on applying techniques such as Python, SQL, and machine learning to generate insights and support decision-making across business functions.
  • Completion of a college-level Calculus I course (or equivalent) is required.
  • Foundational of skills for Business Analytics programming through one of the following: (either one): Completion of an undergraduate or graduate-level course in programming (Python preferred, but not required; e.g., CS 133), Demonstrated professional experience in a programming role.
  • Completion of two semesters of undergraduate statistics coursework (equivalent to BUSSTAT207 and BUSSTAT208 at Boise State University) or higher-level statistics training (e.g., MBA507).

Curriculum:

  • Total Program = 54 credit hours. Each of the following courses are 3 credits each.
