Engineering Innovation Studio Behavior

Engineering Innovation Studio (EIS) policies are designed for the promotion and protection of users, employees, facilities, and equipment. All users should be mindful and respectful of others around them.

EIS Users are expected to abide by the Boise State University Shared Values and Standards of Conduct when using the EIS facilities and programs.

  • Respect
  • Fun-fostering culture
  • Trustworthiness
  • Caring
  • Citizenship
  • Responsibility
  • Academic Excellence
  • Fairness

  • The EIS facility is only to be used by COEN Students, Faculty or Staff.
  • Projects in the EIS are limited to class, club, and research projects.
  • All students must discuss with the EIS Staff the proposed work, the tools they expect to use and address any questions or concerns the staff may have.
  • Weapons and weapon related items may not be manufactured, modified or worked on in the EIS. Attempting to do so openly or discretely will result in loss of access to the EIS.
  • Users may not interfere with employee duties or engage in verbal or physical abuse of employees or other Users.
  • Users must observe all posted signs and verbal directions provided by EIS staff.
  • Use of drug, alcohol, and tobacco products are not permitted at Engineering Innovation Studio facilities or program venues. Attendees or Users identified as impaired will be removed from Engineering Innovation Studio facilities or program activities.
  • Personal training or private instruction at the EIS is restricted to those individuals who are specifically employed by the Engineering Innovation Studio for this purpose.
  • Attempts to use equipment on which users have not been properly trained by an EIS Staff Member is against EIS regulations. Consequences may include suspension from Engineering Innovation Studio facilities and/or program participation as well as the report being sent to the Dean of Students or Human Resources.
  • Use of Engineering Innovation Studio facilities for personal financial gain violates University policy relating to facilities, services, or solicitations, and is prohibited at all program venues.
  • Engineering Innovation Studio staff reserves the right to ask a patron to leave and deny facility and/or program access for policy violation.
  • Individuals that have violated policy may have their Engineering Innovation Studio access suspended and will be required to meet with a designated Engineering Innovation Studio professional staff member or, depending on the severity of the issue, the Dean of Students Office or Human Resources Office. That meeting must be arranged in advance and will occur during business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
    • The individual will receive notification of any applicable suspension or sanctions via in person communication, phone call, or email.
    • Individuals may appeal the decision to the Manager of Engineering Innovation Studio. While under review, the individual’s access will remain suspended.
    • Users are encouraged to report any issues occurring within Engineering Innovation Studio facilities or programs to a Engineering Innovation Studio employee on duty.
    • Situations or circumstances not covered in this handbook will be addressed and resolved by Engineering Innovation Studio staff.
