A record 169 high school students completed their respective concurrent enrollment program option as part of the Class of 2025 Graduation Celebration on Thursday, May 15.

The Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) honored 19 students from the 15 to Start option, 71 from the Sophomore Start option and 79 from the Associate Degree option inside a filled Simplot Ballroom.

“It is always amazing to see the hard work our students accomplish,” Concurrent Enrollment Associate Director Karina Smith said. “Their ability to overcome difficulties and not only graduate from high school, but do so while completing college credits and for some earning their Associate Degree is truly outstanding. Being able to see so many of our students reach their academic goals is truly inspiring. As the program continues to grow I look forward to celebrating with even more of our outstanding Idaho high school students.”

The celebration included words of wisdom from Dean of Extended Studies Mark Wheeler, Provost John Buckwalter and current Boise State student Gregorio Iniguez, who completed his Associate Degree through the Concurrent Enrollment Program in 2024.

Through the Associate Degree option, Iniguez completed 60 college credits while in high school. He is now a kinesiology major pursuing athletic training through the College of Health Sciences.

“Stay grounded in your purpose,” Iniguez said to the students. “There will be tough days, but remembering why you started – your goals, your dreams, your ‘why’ (especially for those of you going into health sciences) – will help you push through.

“You’ve already proven that you can take initiative. Concurrent enrollment is the first big step. Now it’s time to keep moving forward – whether that’s college, technical training, the workforce, or wherever your path takes you. Just remember (Boise State) is always here and always ready to welcome more Broncos.”
