About Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent enrollment allows high school students to earn both college and high school credit for college-level courses offered at their high school. Concurrent Enrollment students become part of Boise State’s student body and have access to many campus resources. They work toward an actual letter grade which is recorded on a Boise State transcript. Credits are transferable to most other accredited colleges and universities across the United States.

Benefits of taking concurrent enrollment courses include gaining access to university courses, building confidence in a student’s ability to do university course work, and gaining an early start on a college career.

Concurrent Enrollment instructors use Boise State curriculum, texts, and grading scales. We provide textbooks, lab supplies, and equipment to high school classrooms to make sure that University curriculum aligns with high school courses. This academic support creates a true university educational experience.

The Idaho Legislature established the Dual Credit Program to provide a seamless way for high school students to get an affordable head start on their college career. Dual/Concurrent Enrollment programs provide college courses to high school students at a low cost, allowing them to earn both high school and college credit at the same time.

Participating Idaho Colleges and Universities: Boise State University, College of Eastern Idaho, College of Southern Idaho, College of Western Idaho, Idaho State University, Lewis-Clark State College, North Idaho College, Northwest Nazarene University, and the University of Idaho.

Boise State’s Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) is accredited through the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). NACEP works to ensure that college courses offered by high school instructors are as rigorous as courses offered on college campuses, such as Boise State, and that all postsecondary concurrent enrollment programs adhere to high standards. NACEP works alongside Boise State to provide the highest standards so students experience a seamless transition to college and instructors benefit from meaningful, ongoing professional development. The Boise State CEP strictly adheres to NACEP policies and procedures.
