Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Interventions and Supports

To apply to the Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Interventions and Supports program, you must have the following four things completed:

1. Application to Graduate College
2. Letter of Application
3. Two letters of recommendation
4. 3.0 GPA

Program requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Interventions and Supports are changing with a decrease in required credits from 18 to 12! Once admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Behavioral Interventions and Supports program, you will complete the following courses (the certificate program can be pursued individually or may be completed concurrently with the MEd in Early and Special Education)::

One of the following courses, focused on Universal Prevention (Fall):

• ED-ESP 512 Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports in Early Childhood
• ED-ESP 517 School-wide Behavior Support Systems
• ED-ESP 554 Positive Behavior Programs

One course focused on Advanced Tiers (Spring):

• ED-ESP 518 Intensive, Individualized Behavior Support

One course focused on Coaching and Leadership (Spring):

• ED-ESP 559 Collaboration and Leadership

One approved elective (Fall or Spring), recommended options:

• Any Universal Prevention course not taken (Fall)
• ED-ESP 548 Autism Spectrum Disorders (Fall)
• ED-ESP 549 Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (Spring)
• ED-ESP 560 Single-Case Research Design (Spring)

12 Credits Total

Application Deadlines

All application and admission materials are due by:

*May 1 for Fall semester – late applications received by August 1 will be reviewed in early August for Fall admission.

November 1 for Spring semester

May 1 for Summer semester
