Sculpting David

Sculpting David

WHAT IS THE WORLD MUSEUM?

The World Museum installation is part of the new Fine Arts Building on BSU campus, and will feature virtual reality and augmented reality interactive educational games about real-world, historical art. The idea was to be able to give parents and kids the opportunity to step into history, without having to travel out of the state. There are three parts to this game: The VR Sistine Chapel Fresco Art Experience, a VR Marble Sculpting Game, and an AR Fresco Tutorial.

SCULPTING DAVID OVERVIEW

The David Virtual Reality Marble Sculpting game is an interactive exhibit for the World Museum. It allows visitors to don a virtual reality headset and pick up the tools Michelangelo would have used to sculpt his famous marble figures. Players are then instructed in the motions, techniques, and history of marble sculpting as they work to reveal the famous “David” sculpture from the raw marble block.

SISTER FEATURES

The Sculpting David Game has two sister projects that are also part of the World Museum Michelangelo project. Those are a VR Sistine Chapel Experience, and an AR Fresco Tutorial. Each have a page dedicated to them.
