GIMM WORKS PROJECT

Sistine Chapel

Sistine Chapel Overview

WHAT IS THE WORLD MUSEUM?

The World Museum installation is part of the new Fine Arts Building on BSU campus, and will feature virtual reality and augmented reality interactive educational games about real-world, historical art. The idea was to be able to give parents and kids the opportunity to step into history, without having to travel out of the state. There are three parts to this game: The VR Sistine Chapel Fresco Art Experience, a VR Marble Sculpting Game, and an AR Fresco Tutorial.

SISTER EXPERIENCES

SISTINE CHAPEL OVERVIEW

Players in this game world can explore the Sistine Chapel through the works of Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni. This exhibit is a life-sized mockup of the Sistine Chapel, built and textured by hand. It explores Michelangelo’s art in the Chapel, and focuses on the Creation of Adam portion of the ceiling fresco. It features information about the differences in perspective between 2D and 3D art, the meaning behind the art, and what Michelangelo’s life was like during this period.

SISTER EXPERIENCES

The Sistine Chapel Experience has two sister projects that are also part of the World Museum Michelangelo project. Those are a VR marble sculpting game where players ‘sculpt’ Michelangelo’s David, and an AR Fresco Tutorial where users are triained in Fresco methods of Michelangelo’s time period, and can then ‘paint their own fresco’.
