The Boise State University’s Master of Science in Genetic Counseling program aims to expand access to the profession of genetic counseling by integrating the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC) standards into an innovative online learning experience that will provide students with a comprehensive education to be skilled, empathetic healthcare professionals. The program facilitates delivery of curriculum in an online educational platform that encompasses a regular and substantive interactive learning environment.
Customized in-person fieldwork provides clinical training to create advocates, translators, and experts in the field of genetics and genomics. Individualized capstone projects develop research skills to give students an ability to contribute back into their local communities. Professional development will focus on interprofessional education, learning to engage in a culturally, economically, and diverse community, and the business of healthcare, giving students the skills to be leaders and entrepreneurs.
